Sapphire was founded 25 years ago.
After working hard on raising the company profile, marketing the business, applying for different Manufacturer Approvals and Accreditations as well as improving customer relations, the owners acquired more and more of the units until they eventually took over the entire estate in 2001.
After achieving both the PAS125 and ISO9001 British Standards Accreditations the highest achievable accreditations within the industry, Sapphire secured numerous contracts with various blue chip companies. As a result of this and extra ongoing growth the owners found the need to purchase larger more bespoke premises enabling them to move into the 21st century.
In 2008, Sapphire moved into an ultra modern, state-of-the-art building which is like no other accident repair centre. The location of the building is positioned on one of the busiest roads leading into Manchester city centre and is amongst some of the newest development sites in East Manchester.
The new East Manchester Central Park Development houses some of the most spectacular buildings, ranging from conference suites, education facilities, business facilities and not forgetting the new multi-million pound GMP headquarters.
Other neighbouring attractions consist of: the Etihad Stadium (MCFC), the Manchester Velodrome which is the national centre for track cycling and is home to our Great British Track Team. We also have the English Institute of Sport (Sportcity), the National Squash Centre and the Regional Tennis Centre.
Sapphire’s bespoke designed building sits on a 3.5 acre plot of land and accommodates up to 450 vehicles on its car park alone. The design features aren’t just limited to the exterior of the building. The interior has also been carefully considered with its contemporary furnishings from the reception area and offices right through to the bodyshop, which is equipped with all the latest and most advanced equipment for vehicle repair.
The new building is very environmentally friendly. Sapphire recycles everything from tyres, plastics, paper and cardboard even down to the coffee cups from the vending machine.
The CHO is a representative body with 68 full members and 40 associate members (at March 2012), and provides a range of services to help support and establish a conducive working environment for accident management companies, insurers, Government and other relevant organisations for the benefit of motor accident victims.
The accident management industry came about in the 1980s to address the problem of innocent motorists having to pay upfront for a replacement car after a collision, and wait weeks or even months to be reimbursed by the at-fault party’s insurer.
The service quickly proved popular with non-fault drivers, who were not getting this service from their insurer.
In the years that followed there were legal challenges by insurers on issues including costs, validity of claims and adherence to existing law.
Accident management companies obtain their work from a range of sources, including motorists, breakdown companies, bodyshops, insurance brokers, fleet managers and dealerships.
The reputation of the accident management industry has been damaged in recent years by the competitive ambulance chasing tactics adopted by some firms to capture motorists’ personal injury claims.
Many accident management companies deal only with non-fault motorists but recently the industry has started to see the emergence of fresh customer-friendly firms which assist all drivers, regardless of fault, and help independent bodyshops to access more direct repair work.
